Ryan Vannatter
Founder & Executive DirectorRyan is a Licensed Limited Master Social Worker (LLMSW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with a deep commitment to trauma-informed care, ethical storytelling, and stigma reduction around mental health and substance use.
He founded Unbroken Voices from the belief that lived experience, shared safely and ethically, has the power to reduce isolation, build understanding, and support healing — not just for the person sharing, but for everyone who hears the story.
Ryan oversees the organization’s programs, partnerships, content strategy, and clinical ethics framework, ensuring every person who engages with Unbroken Voices is met with dignity and care.
Wendy Enegess
Director of Peer Support ServicesWendy leads Unbroken Voices’ peer support programming, bringing both professional training and lived experience to her work. She understands firsthand the courage it takes to share your story — and the difference it makes to be truly heard.
In her role, Wendy develops and oversees peer support initiatives, coordinates storytelling outreach, and ensures that participants receive consistent, compassionate, trauma-informed guidance throughout their experience with the organization.
Her approach is rooted in the belief that peer connection is one of the most powerful forces in recovery and resilience — and that building community is just as important as sharing stories.

Our board brings clinical expertise, public health leadership, lived experience, and systems-level insight to guide the direction and accountability of Unbroken Voices.
Dr. Jennifer A. Burns
PsyD, LADC I, MLADC, MA, RCPFDr. Burns is a licensed psychologist and addiction counselor with over two decades of experience in program development, clinical supervision, and evaluation. She has served as a grant reviewer for national organizations and brings a strong focus on evidence-based practice, systems-level thinking, and the integration of behavioral health services.
She has worked across outpatient, residential, and community-based settings, with clinical work grounded in trauma-informed, strength-based approaches supporting individuals and families navigating complex recovery journeys and life transitions.
Dr. Burns has contributed to national efforts related to behavioral health funding, including work connected to SAMHSA-aligned initiatives, and has experience training emerging professionals. She is trained in EMDR and a range of therapeutic frameworks.
As a board member, she provides critical oversight in clinical integrity, program development, and evaluation — ensuring Unbroken Voices remains grounded in responsible, evidence-informed practice.
Dr. La’Shardae Scott
DSW, MSW, CHES, CHWDr. Scott is a nationally recognized leader in health equity, community health, and systems-level advocacy. As Founder and CEO of the Scott Center for Observation, Treatment, and Transition (S.C.O.T.T.) in Ohio, she leads work focused on sickle cell disease, mental health, care transitions, and improved outcomes for underserved families.
Her advocacy is both professional and personal — as a mother of children living with sickle cell disease, Dr. Scott brings lived experience to her work, strengthening her commitment to culturally responsive care and healthcare accountability.
Dr. Scott is an educator who has taught at universities across the country and has served as a TEDx speaker. As a board member, she brings critical expertise in public health strategy, program development, and equity-centered leadership.
Jennifer Grzymala
BSW, MSW, CAADCJennifer Grzymala is a Licensed Master Social Worker with experience in mental health and community-based services. Her work emphasizes client-centered care, advocacy, and creating supportive environments that promote healing and long-term stability.
She currently works in partnership with the City of Westland Police Department as part of a behavioral health co-response model, serving as a critical bridge between mental health systems and the justice system — collaborating with law enforcement to respond to crises, assess needs, and connect individuals to care.
Jennifer’s work is grounded in the belief that compassionate, informed intervention during moments of crisis can significantly alter an individual’s trajectory toward stability, safety, and recovery.
Carol Dollar Smith
LMSW, BSNCarol Dollar Smith brings an interdisciplinary background in social work and nursing, offering a comprehensive understanding of both behavioral health and medical systems. Her experience supports a holistic, person-centered approach to care with an emphasis on compassion, ethical practice, and community wellbeing.
In addition to her clinical background, Carol has experience teaching creative writing at Northern Michigan University — reflecting her appreciation for the role of narrative in processing experience, fostering self-expression, and building connection.
As a board member, Carol contributes to organizational oversight with a focus on ethical integrity, participant dignity, and thoughtful program development.
Nivea Price
MBANivea Price is a business leader and nonprofit founder with expertise in organizational development, financial oversight, and strategic growth. Her background supports strong fiscal governance, sustainable planning, and long-term accountability for Unbroken Voices.
As the founder of a Michigan-based nonprofit focused on stable housing for individuals impacted by incarceration and substance use disorders, Nivea brings practical insight into recovery, reintegration, and community-based support.
As a board member, Nivea contributes expertise in financial governance, organizational strategy, and mission-driven growth — helping ensure Unbroken Voices remains structurally sound and deeply aligned with its values.
Andrew Warner
Board MemberAndrew Warner serves as Director of Overdose Prevention for the City of Manchester Health Department, where he leads coordinated, community-based strategies to reduce overdose risk and improve access to care. His work focuses on harm reduction, public health response, treatment linkage, and collaboration with first responders and community organizations.
Andrew brings extensive experience across substance use treatment, recovery support, outreach, and overdose prevention. His approach is grounded in meeting people where they are and connecting individuals to life-saving resources such as naloxone, treatment, and recovery supports.
He also brings lived experience in recovery, and as a board member provides critical insight into harm reduction, crisis response, and compassionate systems-level solutions.
